COVID-19 Health and Safety Information

As of Feb 1, 2022

(We will update according to the policies dictated by Alameda County Public Health Department.)

Visitor Expectations & Safety Protocols

What will MOCHA do to ensure my safety?

As of February 1, 2022, following the Oakland City Council emergency ordinance, MOCHA will now require proof of vaccination for individuals over 12 years of age for all onsite activities. This includes Open Studio, Porch Talks, camps, birthday parties, field trips, adult workshops, group workshops, and facility rentals. For unvaccinated individuals, a document from a licensed medical professional verifying a medical exemption and a recent negative test (within 72 hours) will also be accepted for entry to the Museum.

Adults are required to show proof of vaccination along with their photo ID; children ages 12 and older must show proof of vaccination but are not required to provide an ID. Masks are also required for all visitors and staff, regardless of vaccination status, when not eating or drinking at MOCHA.

Staff, interns, and volunteers working onsite are required to practice safe social distancing and adhere to other safety protocols, such as frequent hand-washing and mask-wearing.

MOCHA will also continue to clean and disinfect high touch surfaces such as counters and restrooms frequently throughout the day. Hand sanitizer stations as well as air purifiers are placed throughout the Museum as well.

Camp Safety

  • Adults will be asked to form a line outside of the building during pick-up and drop-off; no more than two adults can pick-up/drop-off a child(ren).

  • Everyone entering the facility is required to wear a face covering.

  • Children will be asked to wash their hands and sanitize frequently for at least 20 seconds throughout the day.

  • MOCHA staff, Teaching Artists, interns, and volunteers are required to wash their hands and sanitize frequently for at least 20 seconds throughout the day.

  • MOCHA will provide hand-sanitizer for adults and children to use when they enter the building.  We have two public sinks for students and parents to use.  Additionally, both restrooms each have two sinks.  All sinks are accompanied by soap dispensers.

  • High touch surfaces such as counters and restrooms will be disinfected frequently throughout the day.

Measures to Protect Employee and Campers Health

  • All employees have been told not to come to work if sick.

  • Please keep your children at home if they are sick.

  • Employees and campers are required to wear face coverings unless actively eating or drinking even when outdoors.

  • Break rooms, restrooms, and other common areas are being disinfected frequently throughout the day.

  • We provide contactless payment, registration, and check-in/out systems or, if not feasible, we sanitize payment registration, or check-in/out systems regularly.

  • Campers should bring their own lunch, snacks, and reusable water bottle. No food or drink is to be shared by campers.

  • Due to all of the strict guidelines required by the government, MOCHA will not provide snacks or drinks for campers; we do have a water dispenser that will be disinfected frequently throughout the day and assistance will be provided to our campers who have physical limitations.

  • Campers will be assigned to a table for the duration of the program.
