Where can I park?Parking surrounding MOCHA is either metered street parking or parking garages. If you prefer a parking garage, click here for options.

I am taking BART/public transportation, where do I go?Once you arrive at the 12th St. stop, head upstairs and take the A3 exit, Oakland City Center. Enter the plaza, use the stairs/escalator to the left of the fountain immediately in front of you. Once up the stairs continue straight, MOCHA will be on the left adjacent to escalators leading to the City Center Shops. If you need elevator access, please follow signs within BART. Exit elevator left onto Broadway. Cross 12th street, and enter Oakland City Center plaza (upper level). Head towards shops, turn right at Jamba Juice. You will see Core Kitchen Café, head to the rear of the building for elevator. Press A for lower level. Exit elevator to your left, exit garage left. MOCHA will be on the right side, adjacent to escalator. Here are some bus stops near MOCHA:

What is MOCHA's mask policy?Masks are encouraged but not required for all MOCHA patrons over the age of 2.

Does MOCHA still have Open Studio?Yes! We have weekly Open Studios on Wednesdays and Thursdays and we have our themed-Open Studio every 3rd Saturday of the month. Click here for more information.

What Art Parties do you offer?Art Party Packages A: $375 - up to 10 kids B: $475 - up to 15 kids C: $575 - up to 20 kids

If I pick a certain package for my birthday party, and an extra child joins us, do I get charged?Yes, each additional person to your party will be $20 dollars – each package gives you one or two teaching artists so we charge an extra fee to accommodate the additional person and materials they may use.

Am I allowed to arrive early to set up for the art party, if so how early can I arrive?The individuals who reserved the party can come in 30 minutes prior to the party’s start time, however, no guests may come in before the start time.

Can I bring food/cake/beverages to the party?Yes, we encourage people to bring their own food if they would like to have that at their parties. Adult beverages are allowed, MOCHA Staff can not serve the guests. We have a refrigerator in the back that is available for guests to use.

Do you offer plates and utensils?No, we do not.

Can we decorate the space?Yes, guests have the ability to bring their own balloons or decorations for the party. However, we do not allow guests to nail anything to the walls, nor cover any of the original artwork on the walls for decoration.

Do we have to do art the entire time of the two hours, will there be downtime for food?No, you do not have to do art the entire two hours. MOCHA Staff will facilitate the art projects for the first hour and a half of the party – during that time the guests do not have to solely do art projects, they can eat and mingle with other guests. The last thirty minutes of the party, the teaching artist will start shutting down the crafts so the families can do gifts or cake during that time.

What happens if I go over my time limit?If you go over your allotted time for your art party, there will be an additional charge of $100 for each hour over your time limit.

What if I need to cancel the Art Party, will I receive a full refund?Full payment is required when booking a party or reserving a spot in one of our camps, workshops, field trips or other events. No cash refunds will be issued. Unless noted differently in the event description, we require 14 days notice prior to the start of your event date to grant a rescheduled date. Rescheduled events will receive the full amount as credit to be applied to the next booking. Cancellations less than 14 days prior to the start of the event date are eligible for a credit that will be applied to your next booking less a 25% processing fee. Due to the significant preparation, staffing and supplies needed for these events and that a registration may have prevented another child from participating, all canceled registrations less than 72 hours from a scheduled event and any no-show of any kind are not eligible for a credit for another event

For onsite field trips, do you provide a tour of the museum along with the art activities?We do not offer tours for guests, however if you have questions about the artwork on display you can feel free to ask us during your visit.

If my class comes in early for the field trip and wants to walk around the space, are we allowed to do so?We would like it if people arrive promptly at the scheduled time of their field trip, as it gives us and our teaching staff time to set up the space for you and your class.

What are the rates for field trips?Pre-K - $175 (up to 25 students) K-12 - $175 (up to 30 students) Offsite - $225 Custom - $225

What are the times we can schedule for field trips?Monday - Friday 9:00am - 10:30am 11:00am - 12:30pm 1:00pm - 2:30pm

Can my school schedule two field trips for the same day, but with different groups?Yes, you can schedule two field trips on the same day, we would have to stagger the two groups times so MOCHA Staff can have time to reset the space.

My class is looking to do a field trip at MOCHA, do you offer wheelchair access?Yes, there is an elevator adjacent to the museum you can use to get to the museum. If you are using the parking structure, there is a wheelchair accessible ramp on the side of the stairs.
