In-Person Field Trips are back! Book yours now!

MOCHA Field Trips are a great way to spend the school year. We offer an array of art lessons and can customize curriculum based on what you are learning in your classroom. Your family, class, or community group will participate in an engaging art lesson led by a professional teaching artist.

Lessons include an educational presentation as well as opportunities for hands-on making. Each lesson is 1.5 hours long (grades K-12), and 1 hour (Pre-K). For groups larger than 25, a second reservation may be required and groups may need to be staggered.

Not comfortable being in-person just yet? We're still offering our virtual field trips via the Zoom Platform.

MOCHA Field Trips are not just for young children; we frequently have middle school and high school students participate, too!

K – 12 Art Lessons

All of our lessons are developmentally appropriate and based on the California Visual Arts Standards. Choose a lesson from our list below and a MOCHA teaching artist will discuss how to adapt projects to your curriculum goals.

CLAY EXPLORATION

Let’s get our hands dirty and create with clay. Student artists will familiarize themselves with the properties of clay and basic hand-building techniques. Students will then use these new found skills to create their own decorative clay pieces.

PRINTMAKING

Students will discuss and experiment with lines through printmaking. After a brief demonstration, students will dive in and experiment by creating their own design and transferring it to their styrofoam printing plate. They will then learn to “pull” prints of their images in various colors.

AFROFUTURISM

Let your creativity flow as we explore the intersection of African history and culture with science fiction and technology in order to re-imagine the future. Students will use various painting techniques and collage to create their art.

PORTRAITURE

Artists like Kehinde Wiley, Frida Kahlo, Bisa Butler, Yayoi Kusama, and more are viewed as students discuss the different parts of a portrait. They will learn about realism, abstraction, proportions, and more to create colorful and whimsical images of themselves or someone else.

Medium options: Watercolor or Collage

Cancellation Policy:

Full payment is required when booking a party or reserving a spot in one of our camps, workshops, field trips or other events. No cash refunds will be given. Unless noted differently in the event description, we require 14 days notice prior to the start of your event date to grant a rescheduled date. Rescheduled events will receive the full amount as credit to be applied to the next booking. Cancellations less than 14 days prior to the start of the event date are eligible for a credit that will be applied to your next booking less a 25% processing fee.

Due to the significant preparation, staffing and supplies needed for these events and that a registration may have prevented another child from participating, all cancelled registrations less than 72 hours from a scheduled event and any no-show of any kind are not eligible for a credit for another event.

Cancellation by MOCHA:

*If MOCHA must cancel a class or event due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances, you will have the choice of receiving a refund or a credit for that particular event (valued at the cost of that event) towards one of our many camps, parties, field trips or workshops. We will do our best to contact you as early as possible prior to the cancellation.

No refunds will be issued for missed days of camp, early withdrawals, illness, or party guest no-shows.
