Artivism of Environmental Healing
Summer Art Camp
MOCHA will host two weeks of The Artivism of Environmental Healing camps for 9-14 year-old middle schoolers. Young artivists will be introduced to the power of ancestral and indigenous land in Oakland and explore foundational pathways that yield teamwork, social liberation, self-reflection, environmental justice, and meditation through the creative arts.
Daily transportation will be available from MOCHA to camp destinations.
Scholarships:
MOCHA believes children should have access to Art Camps, regardless of their family's ability to pay. We are offering a limited of number of scholarships for our Art Camps! The scholarships include after-care for selected campers. Find our scholarship applications below.
Week 1: The Water that Heals Our Community
July 8-12, 2024 | 10:00am to 4:00pm
Leona Heights Park
5-day outdoor camp that centers creativity, healing, and activism associated with water. Young artivists will explore the power and history of water through meditation, altar building, nature photography, the water cycle, painting, river boat competition, and more.
Week 2: The Power of Our Land
July 15-19, 2024 | 10:00am to 4:00pm
Castlemont High School Community Farm
5-day off-site camp filled with practices related to agriculture, poetry writing, nature photography and art-making, worm composting, seeding, chicken farming, and herbalism.
