MOCHA returns to the library, beginning Fall 2026 to offer FREE art workshops at 15 Oakland Public Library branches. Join MOCHA Teaching Artists in these workshops for children and families. At each workshop, the Teaching Artist will present art related to a different theme, building creativity, socio-emotional, and academic skills through painting, drawing, sculpting, and numerous other art forms. 

Funding Support

This 2026-2027 school year, in collaboration with our friends at Oakland Public Libraries and made possible from a CA State Library grant, MOCHA is able to offer art workshops at 15 library branches of the Oakland Public Library.​

2026 - 2027 OPL Schedule​

Workshops begin on September 1, 2026 and end in the Spring 2027
No workshops will be help on library closure days. Please click here for OPL holiday closures.

  • Brookfield Branch, 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Second Tuesday of the month:

  • Lakeview Branch, 3:30pm to 5:00pm

Third Tuesday of the month:

  • Rockridge Branch, 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Fourth Tuesday of the month:

  • Asian Branch, 3:30pm to 5:00pm

WEDNESDAY

First Wednesday of the month: 

  • César E. Chavéz Branch, 2:00pm to 3:30pm

Second Wednesday of the month:

  • 81st Ave Branch, 1:30pm to 3:00pm

Third Wednesday of the month:

  • Main Branch Children's Room, 2:00pm to 3:30pm

Fourth Wednesday of the month:

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch, 2:30pm to 4:00pm

THURSDAY

First Thursday of the month: ​

  • Golden Gate Branch, 3:30pm to 5:00pm

Second Thursday of the month:

  • Montclair Branch, 3:00pm to 4:30pm
