NEA Big Read

MOCHA's National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read 22-23 project will include readings from Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude by Ross Gay and I Am Loved by Nikki Giovanni texts, opportunities for art-making, community book discussions, and poetry arts facilitated by the Museum of Children's Art and the Center for Urban Excellence in collaboration with the Oakland Public Library.

MOCHA programs emphasize outreach to Oakland neighborhoods, libraries & schools where the majority of students are from low resourced communities, perform below academic testing, and are from families with limited resources to procure enrichment services.

MOCHA partners with local Bay Area community organizations, libraries, festivals and non-profits to provide ongoing art centered experiences and placemaking programming to the larger community.
