Overall Job Description

The Museum of Children’s Art operates a children’s art gallery and studio, as well as a number of outreach programs in the schools and community. In combination these programs serve approximately 25,000 children annually. MOCHA currently has several programs that take place in the gallery/studio six days per week. These include the exhibitions, classes, camps, workshops, a field trip program, an open studio program, facility rentals and birthday parties.

Drop In Art programs consist of daily art projects and interactive art stations in MOCHA's Little Studio, an art exploration area for children ages 18 months to 5 years, and in Mocha's Big Studio, an all-ages art studio adjacent to Mocha's main galleries. Drop In Art lessons are based on weekly themes, drawing their inspiration from the current exhibit or Mocha's arts education curriculum. The projects are flexible enough to be enjoyed by all ages. Drop In Art programs provide children with the opportunity to experience art in a low-key setting with their families, at their own pace and leisure. The Drop In Art Program Art Assistant is responsible for:

  • Preparing materials for daily projects.

  • Producing various samples of project in order to demonstrate a range of creative possibilities for each project.

  • Assistance in the development of new art projects.

  • Interaction with parents and children while supervising the studio.
