Field Trip Art Assistant

wednesdays 9:30am to 1:30pm
The Museum of Children’s Art operates a children’s art gallery and studio, as well as a number of outreach programs in the schools and community. In combination these programs serve approximately 25,000 children annually. MOCHA currently has several programs that take place in the gallery/studio six days per week. These include the exhibitions, classes, camps, workshops, a field trip program, an open studio program, facility rentals and birthday parties.
On Tuesdays through Fridays during the school year, and on Wednesdays during the summer, MOCHA hosts field trips for visiting Bay Area schools and youth groups to come to MOCHA and experience an interactive art lesson. The field trip consists of a gallery tour and a one hour art lesson focusing on the current exhibit or theme. The Field Trip Art Assistant is responsible for:
- Communicating with teaching artist prior
to beginning of class about the lesson for the day.
- Assisting teaching artist with setup
and cleanup.
- Assisting teaching artist in the process
of stimulation, orientation and manipulation of art materials
for the engagement of children in a specific art lesson.
- Engaging students who are having difficulties
with the lesson.

- Outgoing and friendly
- Comfortable working with children and teaching them in the arts
- Volunteers interested in learning about
teaching and working with children in various age groups.
- Volunteers interested in developing age appropriate art projects.
