A common complaint is art has been boxed out of the school day, especially in schools with low reading scores. 02.22.2008 Grants Spur Revival of Arts to County Schools district invests in arts equipment, learning materials and professional development to teachers The arts are experiencing a renaissance in West Contra Costa schools... District officials are using $600,000 of a $1.2 million block grant, as well as a seven-year, $37-per-student grant to invest in arts equipment, learning materials and professional development for teachers.
