Occasional flex morning (9:30am start) and evening (6pm start) hours by pre-arrangement

Overall Job Description
The Museum of Children’s Art operates a children’s art gallery and studios, as well as a number of outreach programs in the schools and community. In combination these programs serve approximately 25,000 children annually. MOCHA currently has several programs that take place in the gallery/studio six days per week. These include the museum’s exhibitions, classes, camps, workshops, a field trip program, a drop-in art program, and art parties.
This Position Reports To
Director of Museum Programs and Weekend Manager
Position Responsibilities

Art Facilitation 
  • Set up age appropriate activities with a diverse range of activities designed to encourage creativity and exploration of materials.
  • Work with children and families to implement art curriculum in drop-in art programs, workshops, classes, art parties and events.
  • Clean and maintain art studio and storage areas.
  • Prepare materials for art projects.
  • Assist in designing art curriculum.
  • Work with and supervise volunteers.
Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with emphasis on visual arts education.

  • Able to demonstrate an ability to engage, challenge and interest children, youth and families through arts education and creative self-expression.

  • Willing to learn and utilize the State of California's Visual Arts Framework.

  • Experience working in public creative spaces, facility management, retail and arts administration, leading and supervising groups and teams.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, plan ahead, anticipate and articulate program needs, and work independently.

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and courteous manner with a diverse community of neighbors, donors, teaching artists, arts administrators, children and families.
  • Ability to speak more than one language highly desirable, but not required. Currently seeking bilingual Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Southeast Asian language speakers.
