Overall Job Description
|
The Museum of Children's Art operates a children's art gallery and studio, as well as a number of outreach programs in the schools and community. In combination these programs serve approximately 25,000 children annually. MOCHA currently has several programs that take place in the gallery/studio six days per week. These include the museum's gallery, classes, camps, workshops, a field trip program, an open studio program, and birthday parties.
Providing hands-on art instruction to children and adults visiting the Museum for scheduled week-end art parties
Keeping the studio, gallery and art supply storage areas clean and organized
Planning art party curriculum in concert with parents/guardians, and Museum On-site Program staff
Meeting with MOCHA staff to coordinate gallery and studio use
Meeting with public to answer questions about MOCHA programs

Position Responsibilities
|
- Art Party set up and clean up.Prepare materials and arrange workspace for party celebrants. Greet parents and assist families with party set up. Maintain studio space organization and cleanliness.
- Art Instruction. Deliver 30- to 50-minute art lessons that may include: hands-on art lessons based on an advertised menu of themes, gallery tour, student-assisted clean-up and closing discussion for children of all ages, and from a variety of backgrounds including children with disabilities and children with English as a second language.
- Art Party Program Planning.Working with all On-Site staff to develop and evaluate fun, age-appropriate hands-on arts lessons for art party participants. Evaluate and develop party operations.
Working with Weekend and Studio Manager to, co-ordinate, obtain and prepare supplies for art parties.

Position Qualifications:
|
- Two (2) years experience providing hands-on art education to children
- Fun and engaging personality that can get children excited
- Ability to juggle several tasks at a time
- Flexible personality
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience designing and implementing developmentally-appropriate art curriculum
- Ability to work as part of a team
